Is there anyway to turn of the firewall after xp2 with a regkey or through the cmd console. I need to turn it off remotley but can not connect to the machine over the network, however I do have access to its regisry.

Thanks in advanced

Why don't you just remotely manage the machine and turn off the Windows Firewall service and then set it to disabled under Services? If you can access the remote registry you should be able to remotely manage the machine as well.

Try this:

FirewallDisableNotify (DWORD)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE \Microsoft\Security Center
N/A
0
0,1

Default is 0, change it to 1

Hope this helps,

Erik

Thanks both of you

I use dameware utilitis, i could not remote in, but I did have access to all of the other functions, including the services.
