Hi guys,

Would anyone happen to know how to disable DHCP on a Mitel 5220?

Previously it was set to DCHP and looked for a Teleworker server (We needed a phone in a temporary office).

What I did was reset the phone to defaults and entered in a static ip. When I reboot the phone however it always goes into "DHCP: Discovery" on startup.

I decided to keep the static IP information in the phone and then add the teleworker IP and reboot the phone. It works.

Why do I need to enter in the teleworker IP when I want to use the phone right here in the office? This is so bizarre.

Was the Teleworker IP entered in when you started? If so, that maybe your problem. Try clearing the Teleworker IP from the phone and set all the static settings on the phone. You just cannot set only the Static IP of the set. You also have to set the RTC IP address (mitel phone system), the TFTP address (usually the Mitel phone system), subnet mask, gateway. Make sure that all those are statically assigned. If the set doesn't show you any love after that then get back to us.

Good luck.

I'm such a doofus......

I forgot to enter the TFTP address. I forgot that was necessary. Thanks paterson!

By the way what is the default TFTP port?

Also, is there a default PIN that is used by the Teleworker server when you identify a new IP phone? It has been ages since I have done that and I have competely forgotten.

Thanks again for your help!

Glad I could help. Not sure on the TFTP port. There is no default PIN for the Teleworker. That would be set by you on the admin web page of the server.

Deafult tftp port: 69.

As for the TW install pin, it's set by the administrator, look for it in the TW blade.
