Turn off auto-numbering in Word 97

Is it possible to turn off the automatic numbering feature (at the beginning of paragraphs, etc) in Word 97?&nbsp;&nbsp;If so, how?&nbsp;&nbsp;There are many times when this feature is nice, but in other cases it's really an irritating nuisance.&nbsp;&nbsp;I'd like to make it so that automatic numbering is NOT the default, but I could turn this feature on when I need it.&nbsp;&nbsp;Is this possible?&nbsp;&nbsp;Thanks.<br><br>Walt Wright

These settings are on the Tools&gt;AutoCorrect menu. Select the Auto Format as You Type tab for these specific settings.
