In Exchange 5.5, is there a way to turn off a mailbox so it can't receive (or send) mail, without actually deleting the mailbox?
Thanks,

You can block access two easy ways.
1. Go to the users mailbox and open, then open the delivery
restrictions tab, choose accept from button and LEAVE THE BOX blank

or

2. Delete or modify the users email address from the users email address tab. You only need change the internet address to disable the incoming internet mail.

If you want the mailbox to be visible in the GAL, but not receive or send mail, in Exchange Administrator, on the mailbox properties, set Limits | Message Sizes | Incoming, Outgoing to '0'.

The above fix will disable the user from receiving ANY mail. If you want to allow LAN mail, but not Internet mail use my fix on top.
