Hi

Is it possible to turn a colour [or B/W] photo into a sketch...? If so, how do you do it...?

If you have any ideas or know of something else that is close to this then please yell loud. roda B-)

roda,
the easiest way that I am aware of is in the filters folder under artistic there is a sketch format.

Nunzio If you code it I will crash it.

I am using PS6 and sketch is it's own filter and has loads of other filters under that title. I did try them but to no avail. I am currently going through the filters but still can't find what I think may do it. I'm thinking I may need to use another software package that I don't have like Illustrator or something.

Any more ideas for doing this in Photoshop 6 would be very helpful. roda B-)

Hi,

Maybe this is a helper.
The adjustments menu has a lot of possibilities under treshold, posterize, contrast and so on. This might do the trick.
I always start by making the contrast and the brightness much higher, and start from there on.
It's trial and error

OK, this is what What I came up with. Very quick and easy. grab a photo you want to turn into a sketch [or kind of sketch anyway]. Now this is the hard part [ha ha]. Filter/Stylise/Find Edges. Then Edit/Fade Find Edges. Fade out till you get the finish you want. DONE! roda B-)

roda,
Thanks for the tip I will have to remeber that.

I've found something in PS 6 that might also work.

Duplicate the layer that the photo is on and apply Filter - Sketch - Graphic Pen with whatever settings you like. Then go to Image - Adjust - Invert. Group this layer with your original photo and turn the opacity down on the duplicated (sketched) layer.

hope you find this helpful - nichole
