Mr Sir Bill,

Absolutely splendid tip. Loads instantly. Just a couple of questions ...

1. Why on earth don't Adobe do it that way by default ?
2. What about stuff in the SPPlugins folder ?

Cheers, Mike.

If the plug_ins files are move to Optional, they are found automaticly when needed by Acrobat. The default behavior is to load all of them in plug_ins otherwise at startup.

I'd already got that. I was asking about the SPPlugins folder (presumably used for sevice pack tweaks). Not that it will make much difference. Your tip makes loading Acrobat V fast.

Cheers, Mike.

I do not know about SPPlugins. Sorry, but I am just so tickled by how well this speedup trick works.

hey, im late joining this feed and i have heard of the useless adobe dll's but noone has been able to explain it. Little help?

So you should be. Works a charm.
SPPlugins is a directory adjacent to plug_ins and Optional - well, it is on my installation anyway. Contains a couple of dll's that weren't in plug_ins. Just wondered if you knew about them. Like I said in my last post, it doesn't matter if we can do anything with them or not, your speedup trick has done the job rather well.

Enough of this idle chit-chat. Must go and read a few pdf's.

Cheers, Mike.
