Hello!

I use a Paradox 9.0 application with a VPN-Client (348 kbs). I works very slow when opening a application which has many tables (ca 25).

- Is there any way I can control how Paradox opens the form and tables?
- Or is it possible to tune something in the BDE administrator?

Thank you in advance.

Do you mean the tables are remote and you are accessing them over the VPN from an instance of Paradox installed locally?

Good luck on 384k.

As to controlling how Paradox opens the form and tables, that is pretty much your programming. Or, maybe I don't understand the question - can you be more specific?

I've run this environment. Even over a LAN, at 100MBS, a form with several tables in the datamodel can be VERY slow.

If you have 25 tables on one form, your only recourse, I think, is to break that form into several forms.

You should also look at doing everything you can with tcursors. They result in a general speed increase since you access the tables' data/records one at a time (basically).
