Hi all,
I have a simple question about how to effectively use the tuning advisor.

I have a query for which I want to improve the performance, so I go to the tuning advisor and select the current query as the workload. There are only two tables in this query, but the tuning advisor has selected all tables in the database. First, why would this be, and will this slow down the tuning process or will it know to ignore the tables not in the query?

Second, when I'm finished, I'd like to change some of the options, but it has everything greyed out and won't let me ru-run the analysis. How can I--without starting over from the original query window--change the options and re-run the analysis?
Thanks,
--Jim

Once analysis is run, it's been run. You have to run a new one to change the options. That way you can switch between the results and use the one you prefer.

It selecting all the tables shouldn't slow it down, as it should only make the suggestions based on the query you are giving it.
