TTY not working on a CS1K Rls. 7.0

  • About two months ago the Hotels PMS software told the Hotel that they could not communicate with the PBX to sync check in/out names.

  • At the time of the issue the PMS resided on a QSDI card that had a dongle off the backplane. It was on TTY-5 at that time. After a little testing I found that the QSDI card had failed and that I had TTY’s open from NT8D41AA cards on the backplane. These NT8D41AA cards are SDI cards with two ports and dip switches to determine port as well as baud rate. The dip switches have all been check and triple checked and are configured correctly.

  • I deleted the broken TTY-5 and reprogrammed up a new PMS TTY on TTY-1with the same settings other than the card is a XSDI instead of a QSDI card.

  • I also changed the PMSI port in the CFN programming from “5” to “1” to correspond with the TTY port change.

  • After all of this the new TTY-1 is not communicating at all with any equipment.

  • I have explored every ( and I do mean every ) option to confirm that TTY-1 that provides the PMS connection to the PBX is not communicating with the PMS system. These are the things that I know about the TTY-1 so far

  • I know that it is not a physical issue. I have tested the connection and found that if I remove the PMS programming from that TTY-1 and replace it with another user set that it works just fine. For instance I removed the PMS user base (BGD PMS) and replace it with user base (MTC SCH BUG OSN) and was able to log in through the new TTY-1 after logging out of the TTY-2 that I had been logged into.

  • I think that it’s a programming issue? I know as much as I’ve explained here and know that I don’t know what I don’t know. I looked through the Software Input Output Reference — Administration Guide. I see some references to the BDG and PMS user information and wonder if there is something that I missed when I reprogrammed the BGD and PMS to TTY-1 from TTY-5

  • Below is the printout of the TTY list and the CFN. I have highlighted a few items that I wonder about. We used to have a HMS for a Voice Mail but that changed about two years ago to a XM Hospitality.

  • Let the games begin!
