AIXers,
greetings!
Last ez question. I'm trying to connect through a tty of my RS from my PC. I already setup my tty, correct me if im wrong, but this should be easy,
add a tty,
then choose rs232 connection,
choose available serial port
choose port number
ENABLE login
BAUD rate i used 9600
and the rest leave it default.
....but everytime i conenct using window via hyperterm, i can't see anything at the connection, though i already set up my hyperterm, into "local echo, same baud rate and others.
DId i miss anything? I also tried changing the congiuration of the TTY into rts terminal type or even lower the baud rate but still i can't.
CAN ANY BODY TELL ME WHICH ONE I MISSED?

thanks a lot!

try using xon/xoff flow control in the tty setup, and hardware flow control in hyperterm. Also in the tty setup, there are a couple of options you can "tweek" with. I believe they are "force carrier detect" and "use alternate rj45 pinouts" within smit.

The PC requires a NULL-MODEM type of cable. You can even simulate this using only three wires from the RS to the PC.

One thing you should check using "smit chgtty" is that in the login attributes be sure you have "clocal" specified in the string. Most likely that's the reason you're not seeing a login.
