I was wondering if anyone had success running CR 8 TTX reports over Citrix. Two of the reports in my app are TTX using ADO 2.6 Recordsets. They work fine in our office, our client's office, even on the Citrix server itself, but executing either of the reports from within Citrix causes "Physical database not found" error. The app's EXE and reports are installed on the server, with all dependencies installed local, so everyone runs the same EXE and the same reports. If this is a missing dependency problem, then why is it only over Citrix that the reports don't work? Other reports that use stored procs run fine in all cases.
I gave up on this and made all the reports SQL Server stored proc reports. This brought about new problems (see my post "FIX:Error Detected By Database DLL". I refuse to give Crystal any more money for support to fix what appears to be an already defective product.
This problem is one of many encountered when working with Crystal. Ever notice how Crystal Reports is marketed to managers (the bosses) who need the features and not to the developers who are left to the task of getting it all to work?
I boycott Crystal Reports and will try any other product in the future. Active Reports by Data Dynamics looks very promising. I will also persuade any client that I work with not to use Crystal Reports or any other product from that company, given the nature of developing with Crystal. We as developers should not have to work with such tempermental and difficult products.
