I would like to setup tti on our definity G3. My understanding is to just enable tti on system parameters and then setup up a feature access code for it. However the warning on the system parameters page 2 scares me. Could someone let me know the exact steps and the gotchas I have to look out for?

Thanks in advance.

BTW - very new to the PBX world so dumb it down for me if you can.

I use tti all the time at my main call center - we have people moving all the time. At my other centers where things are pretty static I leave it turned off most of the time. The problem that can happen is people find out how to use it and start moving phones around when they shouldn't be, messing up your system. Protect the autherization code, turn it off when you don't need it, it's a great timesaver.

The real threat is that if TTI is on during upgrades or major changes software corruptions can happen. All upgrade instructions will have you disable TTI. You can also check to see if the state of TTI is okay by doing a "status tti" at the terminal. It should show that 100% of the ports are translated. If it does not you can turn TTI off and then back on to get the maintenance process to rerun. Then if you redo "status TTI" it should show 100% of the ports translated if there are no problems.

t one time (V6 or V8 software loads) TTI had some sort or problem that would cause your station records to become incorrect. It would over right what should be their on your cable pairs and or floor, buildings. I disabled TII in my switch because my station records being correct outweighed the TTI feature. I am not sure if this was ever corrected, so I would be hesitant to turn this feature on.

Happy Holidays to all.

With CM 1.3, using TTI now causes the site data fields (Room, Jack, etc) fields to be blanked out. I was told by Avaya support that this is an "enhancement". I'd rather that they just left the information in the fields as is, but it's not enough of a hassle to stop me from using TTI.
