I have a few questions regarding TTI. First of all what does TTI stand for and what is it?
Also let me try and make this as clear as I can. I type "List Config All" to see which of my digital ports have not been assigned. Some of my unassinged ports are punched down into a station location but show up as "t" under the list config command. If I run the command "Display Ports" with the port number the equipment type shows up as TTI and ID is blank. Does this mean that particular port is available? I know this is pretty basic stuff but we've just begun doing some of our own programming and trying to understand the system. Thanks for any help.

TTI stands for Terminal Translation Initilization. Basically, if a cable is "live" and punched down to the switch, then I could type the TTI merge code and an extension and it would merge that port with the extension. I don't even have to know which port it is.

That said, when you have TTI turned on, unused ports will usually show up as "t" or "p". Basically, that port is not being used. (Though be aware, it may still be punched down to something, it just may not have an active phone on it.) Ports that are being used will show up as the number of that port.

Hope this helps.
