I came into a company who's Citrix servers are set up incorrectly and now they are running out of disk space.

They have two issues going on:
They installed all their applications on the Citrix servers instead of disignating an application server.

Next, which is my immediate problem. The have regular profiles instead of tsprofiles. This is eating up space on one of the servers and beginning to cause problems. I want to move their profiles and begin the correct setup with tsprofiles. With limited space on the Citrix server, what is my best plan of attack?

I can go into AD and put a tsprofile path on each user and somehow move their regular profiles without fighting for the space.

Any suggestions on my approach?

When you say their profile is on the server, does that include "My Documents"? If it does, you can probably gain a lot of space by setting up a policy to redirect My Documents to a network share.

If you want to move the whole profile - you can probably set up your share for the profiles on a server and copy the C:\Documents and Settings\<user> folder to the share, then defining the location of the profile in AD Users and Computers as you mentioned. However, you may run into a problem with security. You may have to take ownership of the profiles, copy them over, then make sure each user has Full Rights to his profile. How many users are we talking about? It may be easier to back up those profiles somewhere and delete them off the Citrix Server. Then set up a path to the user's roaming profile and let it create itself the next time they log on. It will be cleaner and the security will be correct. Then you can just copy over the desktop icons and favorites from the backup. I think your first step though should be to redirect My Documents if you have not already done so.

Well - I thought I freed up space on the Citrix server by uninstalling apps that were not used. However, while in my Citrix session - I view the local Drive M: and it shows I have about 1 gig free space.
On the other hand, there is a mapped drive to \\server\m$ and it for some reason has disconnected itself today and show no space (RAW)

This is the immediate issue as of right now. My users accessing this server can't connect to drives, run applications etc..

For the moment, I have to route them to the other Citrix server. I have worked with Citrix before and it's been nice and clean, not sure what to make out of this mess.

Any recommendation on how to get the \\server\m$ back?
BTW - it is also not available on the other Citrix server -- it brings up an error "win c/n find the network path. verify path and the destination computer is not busy or turned off.

I,m a little stumped. So your users can initally log onto the problem server but can't run any apps? What error do they get when trying to open an application (let's use Word as a test).

Is M a partition on the actual Citrix Server or is it a mapped drive?

BTW - what version of Citrix are you running?

Well - after last night users logged out of Citrix last night. I ended up rebooting (for some reason it hasn't been doing it's scheduled reboot - something else to figure out later) - the reboot seemed to make everything happy.

The drives were remapped and testing showed successful.
It would have saved me alot of heartache if I would have reboot during business hours- but that's generally not something you would want to do.

My next goal - is to free up space on that server, by removing profiles that are being used, creating an application server and removing the current apps -- to use Citrix as it should be used.

Wooosh - what fast pace few weeks it's been.
Thanks for your help and suggestions!!
