TSM restore performance

Hi all of you!

I have a little TSM question:

We use this nice piece of software and had our first
great restore-event last weekend. BUT: the restore was very
slow.

Our save-performance is: 20.000kB/s
Restore-performance: 1.300kB/s

Because our Windows-Servers have a much greater restore-throughput I am sure that AIX can be much faster, too.

What can we do? Is there an "performance option" that can be set within the dsm.sys? Has something to be changed on the TSM-server?

Any ideas are greatly welcome.

Regards
Ruediger

Post your dsm.opt file and your dsmserv.opt file. This is more than likely a use of shared memory that you will need to increase.

Here comes the dsm.sys:

************************* Server für file-backups
SErvername win100a010

COMMmethod TCPip
TCPPort 1500
TCPServeraddress win100a010
PASSWORDACCESS GENERATE
TCPCLIENTAddress 10.18.52.65

*************************************************

schedmode prompted
managedservices webclient schedule
schedlogret 10 d
errorlogret 10 d
*preschedulecmd "/vvctools/saveprepost pre"
*postschedulecmd "/vvctools/saveprepost post"

exclude.file /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsmsched.log
exclude.dir /prd/oracle
exclude.dir /plt/oracle
exclude.dir /tmp
exclude.dir /proc

-----------------------------------

And here dsm.opt:

************************************************************************

SERVERNAME WIN100A010

DOMAIN ALL-LOCAL

*************

What is the dsmserv.opt file? Can I find it on the Tivoli-Server?

Did you check the ethernet (network) adapter speed at the TSM server side and the TSM client side? We had restore/backup speed issues and fixed it by setting the network speed to maximum rate.
