TSM 5.2 client vs TSM5.1 server

Hi,

Can anyone tell me that TSM 5.1.5 server is support TSM 5.2 client. Another word, we are currently have TSM 5.1.5 server and we want to backup an AIX 5.2 which have TSM 5.2 client installed.

In a similar situation, can you help me?

I have a Windows 2003 Server running TSM Client Version 5 Release 2 Level 2.5, but our TSM Server is Ver 5.1. When I attempt to open the client on the Win2003 server and then click Backup it immediately tells me: "ANS5186E Server is downlevel, System Services and System State backup disabled for this session."

My TSM Admin told me it was due to the server being 2003 and the client being higher than the server, so I edited the dsm.opt file adding the line "BACKUPREGISTRY no" according to his instructions. I stopped then restarted the TSM service, but I still get the error message.

Any thoughts on this?

Your TSM Admin is correct. Since you are running version 5.2.2.5 you will need to run the TSM 5.2 server. Windows 2003 support is only on TSM 5.2. Here is a statement from this site:

Windows 2003 System State and System Services backups require a TSM 5.2.0 or higher server.
