Hi,
I am currently trying to install Windows 2000 Professional on an old HP Pavillion Box (400mhz). The box recently had RedHat Linux 9 on it. My goal was to remove the Linux install and installe Win2K Pro on the box. I ran FDISK after booting off of a Win98 startup disk. I removed all the partitions on the system and then created a primary partition. I then ran format c: /s to format the drive and copy the system files over on to it. Everything is happy up to this point.
Upon boot I now receive a message after the HP Splash Screen appears... "GRUB Loading Stage 2". The machine then reboots and continues this sequence over and over again until I power the machine down.
I have rearranged BIOS so to boot off the CD first but I get the same symptoms. I've tried running setup from the CD Rom in DOS and get a message saying that I can't run the application from DOS mode.

Anyone know how I might resolve this problem??

Thanks,
Jason

Don't understand why you're getting this when booting off CD (if the CD is bootable). But, you'll need to write a standard windows master boot record to get rid of Grub. So, boot from 98 boot floppy and run fdisk /mbr.

btw - 2k install CD has its own partitioning tools - you don't normally need to use fdisk/format to prepare disk for 2k - you can do it all booting from 2k install CD.
