I am trying to use the bplabel command to label a tape so I can run diagnostics on it. I keep getting the error message below no matter what switches I use:

Cannot assign a robotically controlled device

I am using NetBackup 4.5. I am getting a lot of media errors (84) during backup and I want to verify that my drives are OK.

Thanks for any help!!

Mike

let the robot assign the drive

bplabel -m 123456 -d dlt -p cesspool
where 123456 = mediaID
dlt = density type dlt (maybe hcart,4mm)
-p = pool that the tape is in

you can skip the -p if the tape is in the Netbackup pool
