Trying to use a graphic created in Image Composer

I created a simple long bar in image composer to use on my web page. When I put the image on my page I'm using it as a separator and then, using the Picture Toolbar, am adding a text box to the graphic. I've put this within a table so I can control its placement, etc. On my table I've specified the width to be 100% and the cell that the graphic goes in is also set to 100% width.

Because of the actual size of the graphic it doesn't reach all the way across the page. I tried, by going to Picture Properties/Appearance/Specify Size (in FP)to set the width of the graphic to 100% but when I do this, the text box I have placed on the graphic is distorted. Is there any way around this?

The reason I made this long bar in image composer was to be able to have more choices about its look (I've made it gradiated). Or is there a way to get this look in FP?

How about using your graded image (without the text box) as a background for the cell and put an image of just the text box in the cell using a transparent background on the image where you want the gradation to show thru?

I tried using it as a background but for some reason couldn't get it to work???

Anyway, I've tinkered with the size of my graphic and think I have something that's workable. I guess it would still be good to know if anyone has figured this problem out in the past!
