RH8 running openssh-3.4.p1-2.
Trying to upgrade to openssh-3.5p1-1
Acquired rpms from openssh.org.
When I try to upgrade or install the new version I get lots of:

"file conflicts with file from package openssh-3.4.p1-2."

If I force the install then both will be installed as per "rpm -qi openssh" but its still the old original one that is being used. If I try to "rpm -e" to remove the original then I get:

"error: Failed dependencies:
openssh = 3.4p1-2 is needed by (installed) openssh-server-3.4p1-2
openssh = 3.4p1-2 is needed by (installed) openssh-clients-3.4p1-2
openssh = 3.4p1-2 is needed by (installed) openssh-askpass-3.4p1-2
openssh = 3.4p1-2 is needed by (installed) openssh-askpass-gnome-3.4p1-2"

any ideas will be appreciated.

Try using
[tt]rpm -e openssh openssh-server openssh-clients openssh-askpass openssh-askpass-gnome[/tt]
and then reinstall the RPMs you need. //Daniel
