You can download a free copy of Visual Basic.Net Express edition directly from the Microsoft web site. No trial version needed.

Visual Basic is NOT the same as VBScript, though. Visual Basic creates executable programs, while VBScript is the scripting language you'd use to "(try) to start scripting", as the title of your post states.

Thanks, I downloaded primal script. I will use this, along with different websites and possibly a book, to learn as much as I can.
