Trying to setup the FTP on our IIS 5 server that we have on our network. I have be able to successfully configure everything and it works perfectly within the network.

the problem is that

when ever some person from outside tries to connect to this site it does not allow that user to connect. the ip of this server is not visible to the user. the server has an external IP assigned to it and people are able to ping the server from the internet

thanks for you help Unicorn11

I had this same problem when I set our FTP site up, do you have a group added in the user manager that has all of the FTP "user names" in it? I had to add that to the user manager and it worked flawlessly after that. Hope this helps.

If you have multiple IP addresses, and particularly if you have two or more NICs (internal and external), in the FTP site configuration, select a specific IP address from the drop-down list, don't use the "all unassigned" item.
