Right now, my device table looks like:
<table border="1"><tr><td>DTEN</td><td>NAME</td><td>TYPE</td><td>ISN GNA</td><td>ISN GLA</td><td>IDN ID</td></tr><tr><td>01</td><td>LOUNGE UNIT #1</td><td>1</td><td>1</td><td>1</td><td>0</td></tr><tr><td>02</td><td>DINING UNIT #2</td><td>1</td><td>1</td><td>2</td><td>0</td></tr><tr><td>03</td><td>DINING UNIT #3</td><td>1</td><td>1</td><td>3</td><td>0</td></tr><tr><td>06</td><td>LOUNGE PRINTER</td><td>2</td><td>1</td><td>1</td><td>0</td></tr><tr><td>07</td><td>DINING PRINTER</td><td>2</td><td>1</td><td>2</td><td>0</td></tr><tr><td>08</td><td>DINING #3 PRINTER</td><td>2</td><td>1</td><td>3</td><td>0</td></tr><tr><td>11</td><td>C.I.B.</td><td>6</td><td>1</td><td>6</td><td>0</td></tr><tr><td>12</td><td>KITCHEN #1 ROLL</td><td>2</td><td>1</td><td>6</td><td>1</td></tr><tr><td>13</td><td>JOURNAL</td><td>2</td><td>1</td><td>6</td><td>2</td></tr><tr><td>14</td><td>LOUNGE ROLL</td><td>2</td><td>1</td><td>6</td><td>8</td></tr></table>

[KITCHEN #1 ROLL] is connected to [JOURNAL] which is connected to [LOUNGE ROLL] which is connected to the CIB [C.I.B.] that is in [LOUNGE UNIT #1]
[LOUNGE PRINTER] is no longer active. [DINING UNIT #2] and [DINING UNIT #3] print using [DINING PRINTER] and [DINING #3 PRINTER] respectively, which are printers connected to the mobo of the 2700 systems. My end goal is to place the [DINING PRINTER] and [DINING #3 PRINTER] with Epson printers like [LOUNGE ROLL] but I cannot figure out how to add a CIB to each [DINING UNIT #2] and [DINING UNIT #3] and program it to work properly.

I know these are dated systems but I'm hoping someone can help?

Are you adding an actual CIB into a second terminal? Why bother? Why not just run a line to each printer? 2700s run as a daisy chain.
You can also use the external port on each terminal, assuming they are the 286 boards.

(Sorry for the delayed answer, I never got an email that there was a reply.)

This would require me running lines through walls (I'm not comfortable doing that) or running a very very long line through the ceiling as [LOUNGE UNIT #1] and [KITCHEN #1 ROLL] (which is the last printer in the chain, so it's the only one that has an open IDN jack) are each in separate areas than [DINING UNIT #2] and [DINING UNIT #3], unless there's a more simple answer that I do not understand

How do I know what boards they are? They have IDN jacks on them, but I couldn't get the roll printers to do anything through these jacks

The printer you're trying to add needs to run from somewhere, a terminal or off the extra jack on one of the micros printers if you have the old style printers. Typically the terminal has 1 plug on the back by itself and one next to another. The 2 next to each other are the network ones for the terminals, the other one by itself is for an external printer. The CIB is a board that is in one of the terminals. You can see the board on the back, it is vertical. Behind the vent cover.
The idea of the CIB was to run remote printers and have a way to buffer the print jobs. It could also be used for some other communication. I think there is only 1 plug on it for running printers, might be 2. The printers that run off it have IDs so the system would know which one was which. Because it is a daisy chain, you can plug a printer into another one. The printer has dip switches to identify it.
For the printer you want to add, what is the nearest device with an available IDN plug on it?

That's why I mentioned I would need to run a line through the wall or through the ceiling, because the closest one to where I would like to set up a new printer is in a different area, and running a line along the floor/walls is not an option. This is why I wanted to set up a CIB on each terminal, so I wouldn't have lines running everywhere. Basically, setting up another CIB in one (or both) of the "DINING UNIT" terminals is my best option, I believe.

You can use the printer port on the back of the dining unit.

I don't recall there being a third port besides the ones for the network?

The 286 model of the 2700 has 2 ports for communication and 1 by itself on the other side of the back that can be used for an external printer. The older version did not have this port. I believe you can also tell by checking the version of the software. The older version went up to 3.x. The 286 was versions 4-5.
With the older printers, there were 2 ports on the back for daisy chaining the printers. I don't know if they continued to do that on their cards since then.
Unless you have a CIB for the second terminal, I would suggest running the wire. You will need someone who knows how to run the printer lines for a clothesline. A CIB is a large card that plugs into the terminals, it isn't just something in the software.

Your other option is move to something more modern.

I have multiple CIB cards available. I just need to know how to configure them with my current system.

I think you can put one in and just give it a GLA of 7 and anything off it be a 7 as well. Still a type 6 and GNA is 1.

It looks like my last reply didn't go through.

I have to set up the CIB on some menu in the terminal that indicates which CIB is connected to that terminal, do I not?

I can't remember. Haven't touched one in years. There isn't a lot to the programming, I am sure if you look in terminal setup and it has the CIB for the one on 6, then you have your answer.

I tried copying everything before I made my post and couldn't get it to work; that's why I made the post. I'm not sure if I'm missing something or didn't do something properly.
