We acquired a server from an office we closed. It’s running Windows 2003 Standard server. I gave it a static IP address in our current range 192.168.1.175.
I went into Computer name and typed in our domain, it prompted user name and password. I keyed that in and it said welcome to the domain you must reboot. I did.
I can't see it though if I type in its IP \\192.168.1.175 at a command prompt at a workstation on the domain.
Our domain has a 2003 SBS computer as the PDC.
While at the acquired server, I can type our SBS servers name \\servername at a command prompt, and it prompts for login and password, then I can see our server from it just fine.
It also does not show up in the address leases in DHCP on our PDC.
We just need to get files from it from time to time.
We are using a USB thumb drive now but I would like to be able to see it from our domain and allow users to get files without having to go to it with a USB drive.
Any ideas? Or did I not wait long enough for it to propagate?
TIA
DougP
