Hi,

I am trying to find a formula to pull specific text from a cell in Excel. My company's ordering system lists our skus in the followng way when we pull our orders, the sku-quantity. Example 0101-3, meaning 3 of the sku 0101. When multiple items are ordered the text for items orders looks like this

"0124-1,0135-1,0171-1,0119-1,0110-1,0125-2,0137-1,UP0171-1,0134-1,0120-1,0103-2,0171-1".

And we have similar skus. As in the example we have UP0171 and 0171. They same SKU can appear twice in one order if we have buy one get one free promtion. One SKU is where we charge the customer and the second time it is the "free" product.

I am looking to pull specific skus and quantities from the orders. I was looking for the best way to do this. What I am hoping to pull the sku and total quantity ordered for that sku no matter how many times the sku is on the order. Is this even possible?

Any ideas?

Thanks
Amy

Thanks,

If that's the context of one cell in Excel:
[pre]
A
1 0124-1,0135-1,0171-1,0119-1,0110-1,0125-2,0137-1,UP0171-1,0134-1,0120-1,0103-2,0171-1
[/pre]
You can use [tt]Text To Columns[/tt] (divi it up by the comma) to get:
[pre]
A B C D E F G H I J K L
1 0124-1 0135-1 0171-1 0119-1 0110-1 0125-2 0137-1 UP0171-1 0134-1 0120-1 0103-2 0171-1
[/pre]
Copy the row, Paste Special - Transpose[pre]
A
1 0124-1
2 0135-1
3 0171-1
4 ...
[/pre]
And then you can use the same approach of Text To Columns to divide this column into SKU and QTY
