Trying to Open Paradox files in Access 97

I don't have Paradox 5
but I have a file that I need to get to link to Access or import. It won't work.
In Excel I get all text garbage when it opens up.
Same thing with SPSS.
I need help. Please.

Is the table password protected? If so then all the data will appear garbled when imported. If the table is not too big (1 or 2 MB) and the info not too confidential send it to me at ogriofa@oceanfree.net and I'll convert (regardless of password).
