Hi guys,

I have been sent a .wks file and only have Office - not Works.

Is there any way I can open this file in Excel?

When I try I get a "file is not in a recognisable format" message.

Thanks, :)

Steve.

It should be possible. Depends how recent a version of works it was created in.

You probably need to run office setup and install the conversion/filter for .wks files. I don't think it is a default option.

Just a tip - if you run setup, don't be tempted to uncheck items you already have installed - it will remove them!

Otherwise, if you are in contact with the person who created the file, it's probably quicker to as them to save in another format.

Simon,

Thanks for that - the problem is that I'm trying to open this file at work and don't have access to the installation package.

I guess I'll have to see if I can get the file resent in a different format.

Thanks anyway.

Steve.

OK. If you get really stuck you're welcome to buzz it to me at sdrio@yahoo.com and I'll convert it for you.
