Hello All

I have a user who is trying to open a local mailfile gets the following error:
database is damaged and cant be repaired (UNID index).

Any ideas would be really appreciated.

Regards

Well, it does say it cannot be repaired, so I fear that the db is lost.
This probably happened during a file transfer. Was the db copied to cd or over the network ? Sometimes data can be damaged that way.
The only thing I can think of is copying the db to the server (physically, not via Notes - which just might compound the damage) and have the server do a check (with the Fixup command).

I hope there is a backup.

Pascal.

Pascal, this is what i found and this process works if you use it from a workstion\client:

Database is damaged and can't be repaired (UNID Index) - SOLVED !

To repair this kind of file:
- put it on a server (if it is not already)
- add the line SKIP_FIXUP=1 in the notes.ini of the server (this prevents the consistency check of the database)
- restart the server
- run the command "load compact databasename -M" (this error often occurs with an old ODS version database limited to 1 Gb and this command extend the db to 4 Gb)
After that, you should open the database.

Cheers
