I'm trying to run a Windows 2003 (32bit) VM I created in Virtual PC in VirtualBox and wonder if anyone can help with an issue I'm getting.

Whilst VirtualBox seems to run the vhd fine, I keep getting an error on the keyboard and mouse in the drivers. In Virtual PC these were set to
VM Additions PC/AT Enhanced Keyboard
VM Additions PS/2 Port Mouse

In VirtualBox they both give the little yellow circle ! next to them in device manager and they are unrecognised leaving me unable to type, though the mouse seems to work. Uninstalling the driver for the keyboard and then running plug and play, puts a proper keyboard driver there, but on the next reboot it gives a device not recognized error on bootup and the same thing occurs, so I have to go through the same process again.

I noticed in VirtualBox a message saying something like
On system page you have enabled USB HID which will not work without ...(missed the last part of the message)
But cannot see a setting for this in the system settings or anywhere else in the options

I really want to use VirtualBox, as I understand that Virtual PC 2007 64bit is really just 32bit, but utilising some 64bit drivers so I assume is not able to access more than the 4GB memory limit. I want to give the VM 4Gb and use the other 4GB of memory (I have 8GB installed) to run the app. Also in the future I want to do some 64bit VMs and Virtual PC cant run these

Thanks
Andy

Have you tried to remove the drivers from within windows when you have the VM running and allowing it to re-create?

I love virtualbox. I find it better than VMWare workstation sometimes! ( I use both)

Unfortunately Ive already looked at both of these suggestions. I uninstalled the drivers and tried plug and play and as mentioned in my email this did recreate the drivers give me access to the keyboard initially, but then it reverted on the next boot. The capturing and releasing mouse and keyboard I'm aware of and certainly tried going between the two, but when in the VM 'capture' the mouse is frozen and no there are keyboard responses, so don't think its that, think its the drivers

When you are in VirtualBox could you tell me what your keyboard and mouse drivers are set to. In VirtualPC they are
VM Additions PC/AT Enhanced Keyboard
VM Additions PS/2 Port Mouse

Should this be the same with VirtualBox or are they different. I wonder if that error message I mention means that Ive set something wrong, but I cant determine what.

using VirtualPC 2007 at the moment and it seems fine with the VM, but I'd really like to move to VirtualBox because of the limitations.

Thanks
Andy

Did you ever try running your Windows 2003 Server in the latest Windows Virtual Machine (the one that comes with XP Mode)?

Windows Virtual PC
Download Windows XP Mode

Windows XP Mode (Windows 7 only, but not any of the Home versions) "You are not eligible to download Windows XP Mode. You must have Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate to run Windows XP Mode". If you have an old 2003 CD (or other older Windows CD) available you can just download the Virtual Machine and skip the XP Mode download.
