Trying to link to a .dxf file by using getURL...

Trying to link to a .dxf file by using getURL, but the file opens in the browser window as simple text. How do I get it to open in the applicable application, AutoCad, FormZ etc?

Is this a web based app or on your local machine?
If it will work at all I would have thought the getURL would need to call the host application with the .dxf file already loaded but I am only guessing.
