Hi! I have 2 Windows NT computers linked via a network. I'm trying to work it out so that I can store all my data on one machine and have a link via a folder on the other machine to get the data. Ex:
speed and braun are the machine names,
speed/d:/usr/geoset/data = braun/d:/data
I would store all the data on speed and I'm link the braun data to this. This is really simple in unix, it's just a soft link, but how would I do this in NT? HELP!!!

Thanks,
Jessica

Using the "graphical" method:

1: create a share on "speed"

double click my computer
double click the drive where your data directory resides
right click the directory, left click sharing
click the bullet "shared as"
give it a name and give it permissions

2: create folder shortcut on "braun"

double click network neighborhood
double click "speed"
right click the share you created above
left click "create shortcut"
click yes when prompted to create shortcut on desktop

you can now access the data from speed by double clicking on the shortcut on the desktop. Another (maybe better) method from braun create a mapped drive letter to the share on speed. In order to do this:

2: map network drive

double click network neighborhood
double click "speed"
right click the share you created above
left click "map network drive"
pick a drive letter from the pulldown box
make sure the "reconnect at logon" box is checked
left click OK

Now you can access the data directory from a normal drive designator.

Hope this helps!
