Hi All

I've been tasked with trying to find a way to have Bloomberg operational at our Disaster Standby Site, which is designed solely to run thin clients connected to a Citrix farm. My solutiion so far has been to install normal workstations for the desktop positions where Bloomberg is needed, but I've been advised that this is not a satisfactory solution.

I've contacted Bloomberg, who state that they are addressing the issue of their product working within a Citrix environment, but that it will be 6-12 months before they have anything ready for use.

My question, really, is, has anyone managed to get a single instance of Bloomberg running from a Thin Client (eg have one installation per Server in a farm to provide as many Bloomberg sessions as there are servers?) or does anyone know of a web based solution which it might be possible to implement in the interim until a full Citrix solution is available? If anyone has had a similar issue, and managed to find a solution that didn't involve normal workstations on each desk, I'd be really grateful to hear from you.

Many thanks

Chris

Chris,

We have been working on thin client solutions for the wholesale banking sector for many months. This has included successfully installing (in a live site) Reuters 3000Xtra as a thin client implementation.

We have also been working with one client to set his systems up in a DR environment and this has included a (Citrix based) thin client implementation of Bloomberg.

To date, we have come to the conclusion that technically we have a solution, the only obstacle to providing it to a client being the approval of Bloomberg in the process.

If you want to ask more let me know.

Hi,

I had Bloomberg working on an old NT4, Metaframe 1.7 working (sort of) I had Several users access it, but not at the same time, but under their own profile.

I just rolled out Metafame XP on Win2k, and can only get bloomberg to run under one profile.

If you come up with a solution I would love to know about it. Im not looking to abuse licensing, but rather provide a remote solution to users if necessary.

Thanks

Hi, both of you,

I am quite happy to talk to you about how we would implement a Bloomberg / Citrix solution. However, we value our work and respect the copyright of Bloomberg. Therefore I would want to have a conversation beforehand to understand more fully how you intend to implement any solution.

You can call me on 020.7253.7314
