Hi folks.

An apache newb here, seeking your benevolence.

If you could please explain the following two questions I would be extremely grateful.

1. How to can create a server using apache2? I wish to do this just on my local IP (127.0.0.1)

2. Once I've created/set-up a server on the localhost. Where do I place a helloworld.html (or any HTML file) so I browse to it using the server (as appose to simply opening a file using the browser)?

I'm running a live Knoppix CD (latest version). Apache version = Apache2. Just a quick note, when starting apache2 I recieved an error message that httpd.conf was missing (which it is). So if I have to create my own .conf file - please tell me.

Best regards,
acdc

I'm sorry, but I believe we don't provide base educational services here. You need to do some of your own research into this topic to educate yourself on what you're doing.

Look into 'httpd.conf', and 'Directory' statements in it for your answer.
