Trying to get started - InCopy with InDesign CS2 on a Mac

My department has plenty of experience in the use of InDesign CS2, and after researching for weeks on InCopy, I have exhaustive knowledge of those functions as well. Unfortunately, I am new enough to this (design) world that I can't figure out how to get started.

InCopy plugs in and sits on a server, I assume, but how? Any hep/advice I can get is greatly appreciated.
