I am trying to setup a new IP Phone 1220 with our BCM400.

I have the phone configured. It registered with the BCM400 and a DN was assigned. I can see it is connected in the BCM Monitor but it doesn't work.

In the Alarms I keep getting the message:
Core Telephony - Unsupported set/peripheral connected.
Verify that all types of attached sets/peripherals initialize and function. Remove any unsupported set types.

In the Resources->Telephony Resources->IP and App sets the IP Terminal Details tab shows the phone IP, DN is 8034,
Device Type says N/A, State: Online, FW Version 062AC6R (3.3), Codec: default, Jitter: default.

In Telephony->Sets For the phone model I have it set to
1140e/2004/2007/2050

I have tried downgrading the firmware on the IP phone to 2.3 and it does the same thing. I tried every firmware version in between the latest 3.3 and version 2.3 and it does the same thing.

My BCM400 is updated with all the latest patches. (Though it did unfortunately get loaded with the first release of SU 22 which reset the configuration on a few things but we fixed that and Nortel says the only difference between the current version of SU 22 and the bad one was the installation of the old one wiped out the security info and a few other things)

I have installed the atomic CORE 290 and VOICEMAIL 289 patches after the SU22.

This is the first IP Phone to be installed on this system and I have never used a 12x0 series phone before. I have 8 IP client licenses. Any hints on what I might be doing wrong?

The 1200 series phones are not supported on the BCM200/400

They are only supported on BCM50/450

Thank you.

My supplier just confirmed they had shipped this model phone to me in error due to this fact.

So I guess that means the models that are compatible with BCM400 are the 11x0e, and 200x series. Are there any models in those lines to avoid? The supplier wants to send me the i2002 model to replace this one.

That's correct. I have used pretty mmuch all of the 11x0e and 200x series without any issues. One thing to bear in mind is that the 200x series are scheduled to be MD by the end of this year and will be EOL in 2012.

Well we returned the 1220 and ordered the 1120e.

It looks like basically the same phone but it's $100 more expensive for some reason.

1120E has GigE ethernet (if you are connecting to a GigE switch and using a GigE PC). Can also plug a USB headset from Plantronics/GNNetcom directly into it or use the USB Analog Terminal Adapter from Algo.
