I am still not entirelyt sure what I am doing, but the essence is that I want to be able to create a JAVA console simulator or agent and tell it to be telnet into a particular port on a Sun Netra server and capture SNMP traps? Does anyone know how to do this or how I would get started. Maybe refer me to some websites or source code that maybe helpful.

Any information would be greatly appreciated...Thanks so much.

Hi,

If you need to code a telnet client, you should read telnet rfc firs... e.g.
Making a comprehensive telnet client can be very time-taking and not all telnet servers act similary (service response is sent in varying length of bytes).

I don't either know for sure what you are actually doing, so do you really need that telnet-based sollution?
