Folks,

I have the following entry in my .profile file:

DISPLAY=176.16.1.58:0.0
export DISPLAY

When I try and export the display for the admintool program to my windows x-client, I receive the following error:

# Xlib: connection to "172.16.1.58:0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
Error: Can't open display: 172.16.1.58:0.0

Any suggestions would be appreciated,

Thanks stickybit.

on the client side, you have to open the display
xhost +
open it for all
xhost +that-host
open it only for that-host
my be you also need (if ot in PATH) to prepend
/usr/openwin/bin/....

What do you mean by client side? my windows box or the sun server? When I type xhost + on the sun server, I receive the same error:

#xhost +

# Xlib: connection to "172.16.1.58:0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
Error: Can't open display: 172.16.1.58:0.0

I'm using a demo version of X-win32 running on windows

Stickybit.

Try going to the console, logging in as root and typing the xhost + command.

i supose 172.16.1.58 is NOT the sun-box, but the pc
on the pc X is not running so you have no chance to to this.
so you can try a commercial product like: reflection, vnc, exeede and so on.

between unix system running X
if they are mutually known (/etc/hosts NIS ...) you can:

on sys1( 162.16.1.58 as user who started X): xhost +162.16.1.60
on sys2( 162.16.1.60 ): xterm -d 162.16.1.58:0.0 &

and get a xterm fron sys1
