I have a situation that I need some help with. I am hoping that it can be done using Microsoft IE.

Problem:

I need to post a WORD, EXCEL, etc. (MS OFFICE DOCUMENT) on the web. (Currently we are hosted on a Unix server. But, if required, I guess we could move the hosting to an NT server.)

Anyhow ... I need to put a series of Word, Excel, etc. documents on the website.

Then, I need to allow certain people to access the document (by hopefully just going to the proper directory and file name) and pulling up the document.

Then, .. they need to be able to modify the document and SAVE IT right back to the server - where the document is being stored.

Qustions:

1) Is this possible?
2) What do I need to do in order to have this work - as simply as possible?
3) What things will be needed? (Such as - is hosting on a Unix box ok? Do I need to be using MS OFFICE 2000 or if someone has MS OFFICE 97 - will that work as well?, etc.)

HELP!

Thanks,
Gary

you said you were running on a Unix server ?? if you can give everyone ftp access, or make one account with read, write permissions to one directory, there is a program that allows you to Map a network drive, like x: f: to a ftp server.. You could then go into MSoffic and modify the file directely..of the server....
god luck

ackka,

Are you familiar with Microsoft Office Server Extensions?? (OSE)

This is what I am actually trying to get set up ... to allow multiple users to access, share and edit document on an NT server .. over the web.

Are you familiar (very familiar) with OSE??

Thanks,
Gary
