Phone System: Merlin Legend Rel. 7.0
Voice Mail: Intuity Audix Rel. 4.0

I have 4 businesses in a shared campus environment in separate buildings. Each business has 6 trunks. I want to create 4 separate pools with their respected trunks. What would be the best way to do this allowing each business to have to only dial a single number to get an outside line from their pool?

Thanks in advance,
Tony

given the numbering plan of Merlin Legend, it is virtually impossible to give 4 seperate pools 1 digit numbers for dialing out. Your best bet is to stay with the default pool number or just assign each business there 6 trunks on a per phone basis. i.e, business 1 get trunks 1-6, business 2 gets trunks 6-12, etc. Simply go under lines and trunks and assign the appropriate lines to each phone. Doesn't leave you alot if you are using MLX-10 phones, but at least everyone would have line appearances. Make sure the lines aren't assigned to any pools first.

Thanks Ghostin. We are using mlx 10d phones. Heres what I was thinking. The first business which is ours is suppling the phones to the rest. I would like to keep dial 9 for us. Can I program a pool to a button? I think I read that you can. The only thing is how would you prevent them from using our pool (9). Not sure if this makes sense.

Tony

if your system is set up in set up space you can renumber your pools 9 for 70 8 for 890 ,7 for 892 ,6 for 893 . you can restrict ext by Pool Dial -out calls. or jost assign pools to each tenant

Should have also stated you have to renumber the 7 & 8 hundreds to 2,3,4,5 oo's it's work but it can be done, put all your station, in 100's ,also your voice mail group

Thanks bobsou. I wish I would have posted this question a long time ago. We had already started with our building and renumbered setup space to 3 digit extension plan. The first building (my building) is 100 and the other buildings are going to be 200, 300, 400. If I understand, you are saying that if I left the system at default I could of had everyone setup with a 4 digit extension (7100,7101,7102,) and renumber the pools to lower 3 digit numbers. I think that I'm going to buy some 16 button phones and go with assigning their respected trunks.

Thanks bobsou and ghostin for you help. Maybe some day I will be able to answer questions instead of ask.

the pools are allready 3 didits wn\hen you use set up space the system is stations 7100 to 7499 & your pools are 3 digit in the 800's which leaves you with 1,2,3,4,5,6, to renumber , you stated you wanterd to make a single digit for each out pool like 9,if you start renumbering just keep good records , & remember if you want a single digit you have to renumber anything in thet count, for 7 it means
70 pool to like 5000
extentions 7100 to 7399 to 5100 to 5399
calling groups 770 to 791 ,7920 7929to 5770 5791 5929
paging group 793 t0o 799 5773 to 5799
which now frees 7 for single digits so to make thing easier just stay with basic set up plan also if you go with 16 button phone you still can only add at least 8 line apperance like a ten buttom , the top button can only be used for features
