Please let this be a basic question that anyone can answer accept me:

How can I connect to an SQL Server 2000 through the "Data Explorer -> More Data Sources -> Microsoft SQL Server" link?

I don't see any SQL Servers listed for me. And when I specify one from the Microsoft SQL Server dialog box, I get an "Unable to connect to SQL Server..." error message.

TIA.

Yes, you can use it (I just tested again), however I use OLE DB.

Are you checking the Use trusted connection?

I think that there are some problems with direct connectivity, perhaps it was stored procedures, something put me off on direct connectivity on CR 8.5...

Thanks. This was the key: Check the Trusted Connection check box. All I did then was specify the SQL Server, and the list of databases available to me appeared in the list box.
