I am trying to create pattern files in ilustrator that can be applied to Photoshop 6.0.1. I need some simple diagonal lines that can be applied to land maps with the fill function in photoshop.

Colored, diagonal lines @45 degrees (running from upper right to lower left = / ) and a total width of about 12 px.

I created the lines in the horizontal, merged them together and rotated the figure 45 degrees. I do not know how to cut and past the diagonal lines into another file to create my desired pattern.

Thanks for the help.

You should be able to copy & paste your graphic into a new Photoshop file. From there, you should be able to define a new pattern ( Edit > Define Pattern ) where it will be available to use in the Edit > Fill menu item.

Alternatively, just draw the line in Photoshop. Create a new document 12x12px, and use a suitable drawing tool to create the line (eg, the line tool, or click > shift click in both corners using the the pencil or brush tool). For something this simple, there's probably no advantage in using both programs.
