When I dial into the main number, I cannot get past the Auto-Attendant?

Dial the main number from a phone. When the system begins speaking press ###5.
If you hear a modem tone -> OK.
If nothing is heard the modem is disabled, and an external modem could be installed instead.

I hear a modemn tone. But when i try to dial in from the computer using hyperterminal, i cant seem to get past the system speaking.

Try to call in to the main number using a moden that can handle BELL mode og add ###5 afther the main number.AT command: ATDT(main_groupnumber_for_OCTEL),,,,,,###5.

Then numbers of commas (,) indicate one second of pause before ###5 is sent.
You can adjust the number of seconds by adding/removing commas.

Check that your modem can handle BELL mode.

Use: 7 bit/even/1 stopbit and 9600 or 1200 bits/second.

Doc, can u tell me how to check to see if my modem recognizes bell mode? Also, the .AT command: ATDT(main_groupnumber_for_octel),,,###5, can u explain this and is this something i must key in? I apologize for being such a novice on this Octel, im use to Call Pilots.

Bell mode is an old signalling standard that the moden must be capable of.
It has nothing to do with AT-Hayes commands.
Check with your manual - or on the web for your modem.

Doc,

I finally logged in andmade a few changes. Now i have the following problems. 1) I have one user in which the calls never go into his mailbox. Somewhere im sure i must set the forward no answer and forward busy. 2) I have a few messgae waiting lights that are on. When the user presses the light, rather than going into voicemail it goes to another extension. Themessage waiting light stays on. 3) I need to delete some old users and add a few new ones. Any help is greatly appreciated.

If this is a Octel 200/300 box, try using the .L Ref command to see where the extension is used (multiple mailboxes?).

Question 2 is a PBX issue.
Question 3: User needs to erase the messages or listen to them and the n logoff.

Teltonman - question 1 & 2 are they related. In the Octel 200/300 you can have multiple mailboxes with the same extension but it is the primary mailbox that should light the lamp. The .L Ref on the extension should help you locate it.
