I have an application that sends emails, but I need a virtual SMTP server to forward them to my hosted email server.

I tried using the knowledge base on Microsoft.com

How do I set up a virtual smtp server to forward emails to a hosted email server (I have the servers email address 38.113.xx.xx)

I am new to servers, so any help would be appreciated.

No, not running exchange. Which I guess is the problem.

The program would send email to exchange, but if you are using an outside email host, you need a "relay"

Sounds like you need help to configure the smarthost.

On the properties of the smtp virtual server, look at the delivery tab and the advanced button. The smarthost field is where you would put the IP of your hosted email provider.

You may need to configure your Outbound security as well. You may have to use basic authentication, if so check into using TLS encryption.

(yay! shameless advertising. my side business)

Thank you, I will try that. But, it will have to wait a few days. Server OS wont open, missing msvcp.dll. Got off the phone with Dell, and they sent the wrong disks with the server. I have to wait for them to ship me the windows OS disk. sheesh...been a long week, glad its over.
