Hoping to replace a Linksys BEFSR41 with a Cisco 1710 so we can VPN in. The Linksys is between our LAN and a dedicated DSL ISP, so hooked up to it is our network server and an e-mail server and the uplink to the DSL line. I've configured the 1710 with the same IP addresses then put it in place of the Linksys, and the internet access doesn't work. Put the Linksys back and internet works, so I've done something wrong. Does anyone have a configuration example that deals with the 1710 directly, and one using the simple system design we have already. The 1710 has two ports, one for fast ethernet (for the LAN) and ethernet (for the ISP uplink). It also has two Dialer interfaces, but I don't think I need them. Somebody straighten me out!

try:

router#(config)ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 (ISP interface, such as e0)

Otherwise, go to and start to learn your way around. There are more white papers and config guides than you could ever read in a lifetime.

Enjoy!

Could you post your config here? It would make it easier to spot the problem!

Chris.
