I installed the client side of Networker on a W2K box and am trying to back it up from a Unix box. My Unix machine has 50 licenses, but I am only using 45 of them. When I try to back up the W2K machine, I get teh following error:

save: SYSTEM error: 'machine' is not a registered client

DO I have to get a special license since this new client is a W2K client as opposed to the rest of my clients which are Unix?

Any help would be appreciated.

You need to have a NT Client Pack. If you have the Nt Client Pack, you may need to adjust the alias filed in the client configuration. You need to put in every name the client is known by, FQDN, short name and to be safe add the NT computer name.

You need of coures a client license pack. But this error looks like a name resolving problem.

What name does the w2k box actually have (in the system settings) not the name by which it is reachable via IP.
Both names have to match to be working.

Have a look at it.
