We have win2k pro workstations and win98 workstations, all running off a win2000 server. One user has an IBM thinkpad A30 notebook and needs to connect to the network. From time to time he needs to print as well.
We use the IBM Access Connections program to have this notebook access our network. It does not require the notebook to join our domain (and in fact, I could not join the domain because of the way IBM Access Connections works!). I do need to allow the user to print while connected to the network by setting up a network connection. When I select Add Printer in the Printers box and then select Network printer, I can get browse and get the list of workstations in the network, but none of the shared printers are available (I cannot click on a computer name and have the list expand to reveal the printers shared off that computer).
Is there a way to fix this?
Or is it because the computer has not joined the domain, despite getting access to it, that the printer access is unavailable?
IBM Support declined to answer this question on the grounds it is a networking issue, and they do not provide support for networking issues.
Thanks for any help
