we have a hp-ux box that needs os hardening. browsing various websites, i noticed several security concepts:

1. standard system security
2. trusted system
3. optional security packages

what are they? should we do all of the above in order to harden the os? thanks for some advice!

p.s. i know how to harden a solaris system.

I've used HPUX as a trusted system quite a bit, it adds a reasonable level of security.

It's difficult to suggest which level of security will be appropriate for your system without knowing the environment you work in. Mike
