I am having a hard time enabling VTP over 3 Cisco 2950 Catalyst switches. I have three 2950 with Gbit stackable modules installed. I am able to ping the two switches from the management switch.

I have configured the management switch with VTP Server, password, and two vlans. I have configured the other two switches with VTP client. According to Cisco documentation 2950 supports ISL but I think does not. Dot1g is enable by default so everything should work.

The VTP does not want to sync. I even created additional vlan on the clinet (had to turn the server on), thinking that it will sync eventually. No go. I have the latest image IOS.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Did you configure the password on all three switches? You mentioned a password on your server but not on your clients. As for ISL vs. dot1q, I don't have any real experience with the 2950 but I do know that some Cisco switches only support dot1q.

dot1q is enabled, but you still have to specify it on the GB ports. can you post a config?

Passwords are correct on all switches. I even disable the passwords. According to docs they should sync without passwords however this is not a desire solution.

The trunk is enable over the GBit. Running the command <show run> the Gbit 0/1 show it's port in a trunk state.

I will get the config soon.

Thanks for your help. I am stumped.
