Hi all,

I've just started working for a company who have a Mitel 3300 ICP. My background with this is rather limited (read: none), although I have previously done a small amount of SIP work.

They have a new, unopened, Mediatrix 4108 (8 port FXS device), running the SIP firmware. The 3300 has 4 SIP trunk licences, but 0 SIP user licenses.

My task is to get a couple of the ports working so they can attach a FAX machine to one of the ports - but I'm completely stumped. I followed one guide where I set up a SIP trunk on the Mitel, and gave the Mediatrix the IP of the Mitel as a proxy but unsurprisingly this didn't work.

Can anyone give me some advise on what I might need to do, or a guide I might need to follow? I suspect their *might* be something on the Mitel site, but they declined my membership as I'm not a reseller, and the company we purchase Mitel equipment from haven't replied to my request for them to create an account for me.

Thanks,
-Jeff

ive got a document that I followed if you can provide me a way of getting it to you

Thanks for your reply.

Would you be able to upload it via (no registration - just attach the file, select a validity duration and get a URL back)?

I get a 'File not Found' error with that URL :(

Thanks, It worked this time.

That looks similar to the guide which I found, although this one has more pictures :)

It lists variants Mediatrix 1104/1204, which are FXO ports (for connecting to a phone line) rather than FXS ports (for connecting to a handset) - I don't know how much of a difference that makes to the way it works with the Mitel.

I'll work through it and see what happens. When you set it up, did you need to enter any form of username or password to authenticate the Mediatrix box itself with the 3300?

Many thanks,
-Jeff

if im completely honest I cant remember. when i installed the mediatrix I followed that doc.
I then had 2 problems

1) proved to be a cabling issue
2) We could make a voice call successfully but were unable to send / recieve faxes.
When attempting to send a fax we could hear some fax tones but they didnt sound to appear to handshake properly
We resolved this by disabling the T.38 protocol

only other difference is we used a 1104 and not a 4410

good luck!!!!!
