Trunk-to-trunk transfer -- change outgoing Caller*ID/Public Number?

Hey all,

We're on a S8400 with a SES 4.0. We just moved from PRI to SIP trunks via Verizon Business. The way Verizon does authentication is really messed up -- they require the SIP 'From' header to be a 4-digit subscriber number (which is registered with Verizon), and the SIP domain to be set to one they recognize; let's say gw1.sip.com -- ie, '4000@gw1.sip.com'. We were able to get general outgoing calls working by setting the public-unknown-number up for the trunk groups. However, forwarding calls to external numbers will not work -- looking at the SIP trace logs on the SES, when we forward a call out, the public number is set to the caller's Caller*ID number -- ie, '6125551212@gw1.sip.com'. Verizon rejects this call, as it doesn't match any of our stations.

To get this working to start with, we're curious if there is an option somewhere to force any outgoing call that doesn't match one of our internal extensions to have it's public number set to our main public number -- which is 4000. We haven't been able to find anything on how to do this, and neither has our Avaya consultant. If anyone has a suggestion on this, we'd love it. ;)

The long-term solution, according to Verizon, is to send a SIP REFER request with the 'From' message set to 'extension@gw1.sip.com', and also add a 'Diversion' header set to '6125551212@gw1.sip.com'. If anyone has ideas on this, well, that'd just be a big bonus. ;)

Thanks!
